Reader Buzz

‘Wow! Loved it. Fast, thrilling, gripping, scary.
Gavin Hilzbrich

Boy, if you like Simon Kernick you will like this guy
Linda L.

This is absolutely brilliant!
Jeanette Slinger

I can't stand crime novels that have a long preamble before getting to the action and this one certainly doesn't disappoint in that way. From page one it's straight in there, bish bash bosh and continues on in that vein, so you are frantically turning the pages to find out what happens next.
Sandra Hawe

The material I read was mad, frantic, super quick and entertaining.
Martin Higgins

Gripping… Explosive… Page Turning!!
Darren Elliot

This book is so cinematic . . . due to the punchy dialogue and the succession of crisp, sharp images which drive the narrative forward.
Sam Eades

This was great ... Very much made me think of Simon Kernick and Relentless actually . Decidedly scary and asks some very dark questions: just how far would you go to save your family?
Sue Cook

Author Buzz for Switch

Several best-selling authors were kind enough to read an advance copy of Switch and offer an opinion. Here's what they had to say:

A terrific little-guy-in-big-trouble thriller . . . think Saw meets Payback moving at warp speed — with the emphasis on warp. Lee Child, #1 NY Times best-selling author

Think Harlan Coben on speed with a heart breaking compassion that will literally have you biting your nails . . . (a) nerve jangling wondrous debut Ken Bruen, Cross.

‘Switch is not merely good, it's damned good. I immediately wanted to start on page one and read the thing again! Wow!David Hagberg, Joshua's Hammer.

‘Grant really knows how to make a story move.’ Linwood Barclay, No Time For Goodbye

Reader Buzz for Switch

Switch has been released in the UK and Germany and the reader feedback has been sensational. Here's what readers have to say so far:

"Well it is now 2.56am. I have stayed up till this late as I couldn’t put your book down. I had to read it till the end . . . brilliant book .” — Nicole Godfrey

“Finished the book this morning WOW!! I loved it!!! How long before the next one??” — Bekkey Long

“It's an amazingly good debut . . . among the best thrillers i have read lately. It's definitely better than anything James Patterson has written since a long time. It is fast paced, never boring, the characters are well designed and it's a thrill till the very end.” — Harald Fauland

“To anyone who hasn't read Switch yet.....get it!!! Great book, great read, great characters, loved it. Can't wait for the next one, well done!” — Deb Farrell

“I have just finished it, Grant and I have to say, what a fantastic read! Reduced me to tears in places but excellent, thank you! Can't wait for novel number 2!” — Rhonda McMillan

“Started Switch last night. Jeez I’m loving it! You don’t hold back.” — Simone Riches O Gorman

“Just finished reading the book last night, absolutely brilliant!!” — Usha Gajperia

“Loved it. Watch out Kernick and Coben.” — James Stones

“Instantly gripping and incredibly paced. Just how a good thriller should be.” — Martyn James Lewis

“I thought it was excellent, so much so I couldn’t put it down.” — Julie Cross

“Couldn't put it down, brilliant story and really enjoyable read. Can't wait for the next one.” — Amanda Mott

“Great book mate, I really enjoyed it, better than Lee Child’s last 2 novels.” — Cormac McCarthy

“Just finished your book Grant - finally got to the stage where I could not put it down, whatever else I had to do! You should be very proud - it is excellent! It's not often I read general fiction - I'm normally a scifi/horror fan, but I really enjoyed this. A lot of "established" writers would give their left arm to produce a novel of such quality. I will await your next with eager anticipation & can definitely smell a film for Switch - I think it would be a blockbuster.” — Tony Johnson

“A fantastic book that I struggled to put down.” — June de Bruin

“Finished it.............................brilliant...........can't wait for the next one Grant!!!!!!! Well done :) Best seller I think!!!!!!!!!” — Sue Miller

“No time to write a long message, I'm too engrossed in the book!!!!!” — Lisa Briggs Hardy

Great review on LoveReading

Sarah Broadhurst (who writes for The Bookseller among others) just gave Switch a terrific review on the LoveReading website. She said: "Terrific, you’ve got to read this one. It’s a race-against-time thriller with a husband/father forced to commit crimes (including murder) to protect his kidnapped wife and child. Talk about warped, especially when you find out why! The emotions, both good and evil, that run through the book set it above most in this area, and the perverted mind manipulating the action is brilliantly drawn. Great stuff." You can find it here.

Four-star review & Pick of the Month

Switch received a four-star review from New Books magazine in the UK. New Books is an influential magazine for book clubs. Switch was also selected as the Recommended Read by Portunus Club Magazine - PO Cruises' members mag (which has a readership of 320,000).

Suite101: A frantic adrenaline blast

Robin Jarossi of Suite101.com gives Switch a glowing review this week. He writes: "Switch is a frantic, adrenaline blast of a thriller. Without doubt, a pulsating debut that will grab many thriller-lovers by the lapels and refuse to let them go." You can read the full review here (Warning: There are a couple of plot spoilers.)

Switch reviewed in South Africa

I just noticed that South African newspaper, Volksblad, published a review of SWITCH. The review is written in Afrikaans, but Roger Smith, author of the South African thriller Mixed Blood, managed to translate a portion . It reads: "A thriller that got me asking questions. Switch is a promising debut, a well-conceived thriller with no loose ends. Reminiscent of Dean Koontz. I’ll be watching out for his next book." Lientjie Mentz – Volksblad, South Africa. Switch hailed as "wonderfully devious"

The Jan. 9 issue of UK trade magazine The Bookseller marks SWITCH as One to Watch for July and a "wonderfully devious début thriller" in Jonathan Ruppin's Cream of the Crop pick of the paperbacks set to prevail over the rest of the field in 2009.
